Unresponsive horizontal section/area on Xperia Pro touchscreen

Hi, just today I was using my phone normaly and then later on I went to send a text message and I was unable to use the qwerty row of the touchscreen.  at first I thught it was a glitch on the text message section of the phone.  But afterwards I discovered that even on the home screen that that area was totally unresponsive.

The area is a horizontal area that goes all the way accros the touchscreen area it is about 1cm in height in portrait mode.  The same area is unresponsive ene in landscpae mode...I

I dont know what to do, I've only had it for about two months so it is very new, im really upset about this issue.  I live in the Uk and I dont really want to send it in for repairs becasue of the horror stories that I've heard about the waiting times!

any suggestions please? Advance thanks!

can you perform a simple test? dial *#*#7378423#*#* service test>touchscreen, see if the area is responsive post a screenshot here.

Thanks for your reply nolramlb.  Here is a screeshot of the test I ran.  As you can see there is a horizontal band that is totally unresponsive.  What could be casuing this? I have taken really good care of this phone, doesnt make any sense!

Also I have done a factory reset, but that didnt work either.

This is my first touchscreen phone, if it wasnt for the qwerty keyboard it would be even more frustrating to use as a lot of the android dialouge boxes are placed in the unresponsive touchscreen area

I will probably have to return it to sony, this has left a bad taste in my mouth and for the first time in a long time I may have to consider buying a different mobile from another brand!  I really dont want to as I like Sony so I will appreciate any more ideas/help to fix this issue before considering expert repair.

thanks

Hi, I am facing same issue with my Xperia Pro. It started 2 days back and a horizontal patch of about 1cm stopped responding. Wierd thing is that, the patch slowly moved upwards to centre postion and then came back down to bottom, I am now unable to pick calls or unlock my phone via swipe.

Please help or do i have to submit phone for repairs (which usually take weeks)
