Unlocking X10 after making a custom unlock pattern & PUK-code problem.

I recently set a custom unlock pattern on my X10, and it's either not working, or I've forgotten it already, as I cannot unlock the phone.  Is there any way I can reset it, or the phone's entire settings, without unlocking the phone?

Also, when trying to change other settings I have entered the wrong SIM PIN and now the phone says "SIM card is PUK-locked".  I have the PUK code to enter but I can't enter the code to unlock the SIM.  How do I enter it? (Is it because I can't unlock the phone that I can't enter the PUK code?)

Anyone with any experience/knowledge about these two problems would be a great help, thank you.

To reset the pattern unlock download a program called Sony Ericsson Update Service and update your phone.

one of the options on the annoying phone menus systems at your telco provider is  "if your phone is asking for a puk code"

my first option would be to ring your telco, but be sure to ask if they intend to charge your account for 'helping' you.

certainly they can provide the puk code, but having not used the patterns I dont know if it comes before or after the puk code.

even then....you can rely on the telco to assist here...the tech team anyway.

If the pattern lock is easily bypassed on the net...then its worth nothing. Ultimately you should have to prove purchase to your telco before they release the fix, to protect your phone there...from those who would seek to bypass your pattern !! yes ??

How is it I keep reading people being charge by their telco for PUK code?! Why do they want to do that to their own customers?

Jake, try the SE Update Software first (or was it the PC companion??). If it does not work, then go to your telco.
