if your Xperia S it's locked to a carrier/network branded it can not, why do you want to unlock your bootloader?

Dial *#*#7378423#*#* navigate to Service info - Configuration - At the bottom it will say Bootloader unlock allowed yes if it does you can unlock it if it says no you can't if it says Bootloader unlocked: Yes then it's already unlocked
If you want to root then you don't need to unlock your bootloader if it's to install custom roms then yes you do
i have sim locked i only will change my phone to iusacell i have telcel :_:
if you are changing carriers you do NOT have to unlock your bootloader, you have to (network) unlock your phone.
