Hi
Does anyone know how many unlock attempts you get on these phones? (As default - I'm sure you can customise the security settings but I haven't done this.) I've left my phone somewhere, won't be able to get it for a while, and would like some peace of mind that it locks out after a certian number of attempts!
Thanks
As far as I know, after 5 attempts it will only lock for 30 seconds or 1 minute. Then you can insert the password again.
What you can do is to try to lock it with Android device manager but I am not sure if that won't require a reset afterwards.
OK - so theoretically someone could spend all day entering 5 attempts, waiting 30 or 60 secs, then try again.... with no upper limit?
If that person waits, yes. I did know in the past that after you keep trying to insert the password, it will completely lock and no way to recover without having access to the gmail account. I will try to grab some info on this.
Thanks. I thought there might be some kind of upper limit... also this phone is a Sony Xperia which is about 2 or 3 years old, don't know if that makes a difference
So you don't have the Z3? Just to know and move it where it should be.
Sorry but I'm not actually sure. I know it's an Xperia. The Z3 was my best guess. I've googled it but all the Xperias look similar
Go to settings-about phone-model number.
I don't have the phone with me.
I'm guessing the default unlock settings would be similar accross all Xperias, and all Android phones in general, wouldn't they?
Yes, they should be. Some made changes but in general it should be the same. I will be back with some information soon I hope.
