Uninstalling What's New

Dear Sony, how can I uninstall "What's New"?

I hate how it messes with the location of Google Now shortcut and totally wrecks user experience on a sony phone.

You cannot by default,it is a Sony implemented thing.Maybe a 3rd party app could help you,I remember there was one for Google now.

I just did the update too, and now I'm very unhappy. I can't find any way of changing the menu when I long press the home button.
I have no use for the new "What's new" app. I will never use it because it just links to services that want me to spend money.
I WAS happy with my phone but thanks to the smart advertising guys up at Sony I now have a shortcut to ADVERTS! Poor move Sony, very dissatisfied.

This is the most annoying and useless of apps! It keeps popping up,takes over thephone and there's no way to shut it down.

It's there really no way to uninstall or disable it without rooting the phone? Please Sony remove it!

Hello,
Thank you for this proposal. The application is very interesting and I encourage others to discover. However it does not solve the problem ! "what's f****** new" remains ! Considering the price we pay for these phones, I hope that Sony will return to this kind of choice in the next update ! Luckily I am right handed, and I pity the left handed that must contort to avoid this scam ... The ONLY reason I buy Sony Xperia phones is the IP certification. I now have at least a good reason to change because other manufacturers meet this characteristic...

Me too!  Have a Z1 Compact and have just upgraded to Kitkat 4.4.4 and I, too, loathe the "What's New" button.  I have absolutely no interest in buying movies or music on my phone.  We should be able to disable it, if not interested.  If I buy a PC, I have absolute control in what software goes on to it, why not the same with a phone?  I have been buying Sony phones for over twelve years now, but if they insist on controlling what software is on our phone without giving us the option to delete or disable it, then I will definitely be looking elsewhere next time.

Probably the best thing to do is to ask on Twitter @sonyxperiagb .  I have asked them to no avail - all I get is "..the 'What's New' option can only be removed from the Home Screen, not the Home Key.". But if everyone keeps asking, then maybe they will include the option to disable in the next update
