Contact the Xperia Care and request a vacuum test, this will prove if you firmly closed all the covers/flaps or if the phone it's deffective, also are there any cracks?
Same thing happen to me today just a splash of pool water and complete shut down with the same issues you experienced.
i had pretty much the same thing happen. i contacted Sony Support and they had me send in the Phone. Received a Brand new one in the mail. Thanks for the support on here @uliwooly
I'm not sure if you are aware of this but this is a user based forum, if you want to contact Sony this is how

as for your issue, I'm sorry that your phone its not working but why don't you contact your local Xperia Care and request a vacuum test, that should prove who is at fault.
Each case it's different so don't assume that it's the same situation as the other user(s)
