Google CEO have requested android devices manufacturers to provide their customers an option to download and use uncustomized version of Android in their devices. Dear SE, since your software development team cant customize android and provide us an update, please consider his request as a solution. One more point. I, and most customers of yours, doesn't like or use timescape or UI you think are the most wonderful aspect of your device. I use Live Home & ADW as UI and separate clients for twitter and facebook. So Please stop spending time on these crap pieces of softwares and provide us a fresh unvandalized Android. Please.
Completely agree with Google's CEO. That would be a fantastic solution to everyone's problems. Give us more options SE! Let us choose whether we want vanilla android or android with your sh*tscape UI on OUR phones.
The update may be available by the end of next month (Android 2.1).
Yup, I use dxtop pro as my homescreen, I don't even turn back to SE homescreen.
For timescape, it's visually appealing but please add

I totally agree with G CEO! Give us 2.2 SE! come oooon!!! ![]()
I like the idea requested by Google's CEO but can't see it ever happening because the Android market has so many varied phone types all at different levels of firmware or software states. SE being at 1.6 and moving (soon we hope) to 2.1 customise their versions with things like timescape and moxier applications, so a generic open version being made available won't happen to Android. I guess you know you can remove timescape from the home screen like any other app by long press and drag to the bin at the bottom. If you use' Startup Auditor' (the free version) you can suppress up to 5 app from starting up and using memory, so timescape and moxier can be stopped, it works on mine ok, they never start or not that I am aware of. It would be better if SE gave us the actual option of what to install when we update, just like you can with your computer software. When you use Update Service and there are updates, you click a next option and then tick boxes for things you want to have like moxier, timescape etc, then install. This way people that want and use these things can have them and those of us that don't, do not have them forced upon us. If you buy a laptop for £400 and there is software on it that you don't want or use you can remove it, so why are mobiles different, Do the x10 people that have fully generic phones have things like moxier forced upon them.
I dn't agree with your "mst users don't use Tmscap" talk, but I wod concur to a raw version of 2.2 for SE X10.
I think most users do use Timescape
Would I like a vanilla version of Android? Only if Sony made camera drivers etc available to all which they would have no real compulsion to do.
Would I sacrifice the functionality that SE (will hopefully) bring to us with the 2.1 update for what is a minor upgrade to 2.2? The answer is a very definite NO.
The UI is easily customiseable. I run ADW which gives me loads of freedom. The skin I run gives me the Samsung apps drawer launcher and five screens to fit everything I want quick access to
So whilst it may be nice to have 2.2 I don't see it as worth losing any sleep over
It seem they would offer a choice, just an option no matter if most users actually use this or that. It is not a bad offer to android world, we must agree with people have select android OS because of free world it would offer and next update may say you are able to select to upgrade directly from an android release or wait until SE prepare its own UI. If so most of people here would stop to complain about.
It is unconscienable that I bought this phone (X10) on the word of the salesman, but I sincerely thought an OS upgrade would be a few minutes work for the pros at SONY. Why does it seem easier to pull teeth than to get the promised experience from my phone????????????
