Dear Sony,
Ever since i bought my xperia z, i have been using my vodafone 3g internet of my z to connect to my lappy.
I used to tether with both usb and wifi tethering. It worked just fine.
I guess its after the latest firmware update on xperia z, i am unable to tether with either usb or wifi.
Whenever i create a wifi hotspot with z, my lappy does detect the wifi and even connects, but shows an '!' on the wifi strength signal bars and when i try to browse , no internet connection.
Am very bad at configuring networks.. Any help appreciated..
Have you tried to set up a WiFi hotspot without any security? If not, give it a try to see if it's related to the encryption of the network.

I changed the security to "none" and tried.. But no use..my lappy shows the signal strength is "excellent" but "no internet access".. Pls help..
I've seen that happening on a hp 635, you have to wait few minutes until you get the pop up to select which type of connection it will be (home, public, etc)
This appears to be an issue across the board on multiple devices since updating software recently. Both myself and my flatmate have the Xperia T on t-mobile(EE) we've always used the phones as portable Wi-Fi hotspots when working outside if standard Wi-Fi networks. Since recent updates we are both unable to send/receive data whilst tethering.
I spoke with our provider today, they have stated that there is no restriction regarding tethering to other devices and that this is enabled on our accounts. This has been tested in multiple laptops etc issue persists and all ping testing times out.
Again to summarise we are able to connect to our phones via tether, be it bluetooth/Wi-Fi/usb but no data is transferred.
If anyone could help us out with this it would be greatly appreciated.
