Unable to tether via bluetooth after 4.3 update

I have been using the bluetooth tethering between my Tablet Z and Z1 perfectly prior to the 4.3 update. Now when I try to connect, the tablet does not even attempt to make the connection.  I unpaired and re-paired the devices, rebooted both, and am able to transfer files via bluetooth but not tether.  Anyone know of a solution?

I have the same problem. Nexus 4 as partner and gateway. Blue tooth tethering does not work.
Its shoddy.
its also annoying that you cannot down grade to a previous version.
The new skin looks nice, but something is wrong with sony qa that they let fundamental bugs - this and in the previous version, the screen rotation bug get through.

I have same issue. Sony online support unaware of it when I contacted them. Told me to do software repair via PC Companion, which made no difference. Note that when you do that, you lose any downloaded apps as PC Companion doesn't back them up. Come on Sony, if Samsung Kies can do it, so can you!

Got back to Sony and tried to fob me off with "We don't guarantee compatibility with other vendors phones". Only when I really insisted did they log it as a fault.

There's an easy workaround using 3rd party apps. Install Easy Tether tablet app (free) on the tablet. Install Easy Tether Lite (free) on your phone. Setup is simple as long as your bluetooth pair phone and tablet before you start and enable bluetooth on both devices, then just follow the prompts and it just works.

It's a novel solution as it bypasses the usual bluetooth tethering functions of phone and tablet and establishes a bluetooth Personal Area Network to share the phones internet connection.

The Lite version doesn't allow access to https URLs. The paid version does £6.33. Try the Lite version and then upgrade once you are sure it works.

Me too.  This is very inconvenient.  I have to use wifi hotspot now.  Is there any way to reinstall the old firmware to get bluetooth tethering back?  Is there any idea on when this will be fixed in 4.3?

It's Not a Bug it's a Feature from Sony Mobile POV! You have to buy a Sony Xperia Smartphone, install the exlusive App Xperia Link (available for Xperia Smartphones only!) and now You are able to use Bluetoth Tethering.

Fine for Sony Mobile but very Bad for all customers.
