Unable to select the contact to send SMS

Hey Hi, lately I have been facing issues with the messaging on my Xperia Sl. When ever I draft a message and try to select the contact from the list, messaging quits and shows up home screen. I have tried resetting the xperia to factory reset> still didnt work. any advise will be valuable.

Have you tried to repair the phone software using the program PC Companion?
