Turn off camera sound?

Hi!

I like my new Xperia Z1. But one things annoy me and that is the chimesound when I activate the camera. I want to be able to activate the camera with the shutter button without any sound what so ever. Is this is possble? Didn´t find anything in the sound- or cameramenues.

Thanx.

Haha, that is actually true! I was wondering why sometimes the camera did not make a sound at all, and thought about how to keep it that way. It is indeed only the cam button that produces the sound, and not the Camera Widget. This is pretty great, though it is also quite stupid to have such design.

I believe it won't matter that, most of the times in public spaces, the surrounding noise makes the shutter sound inaudible.
Besides, the annoying chiming sound is not the same as the shutter sound, which, by the way, Sony let's us turn off.

The thing is that when I purchased the phone there was no such sound. It appeared after the first system update so it can be corrected with an update.

There is a small workaround. If you select 'launch and capture' in quick launch settings, you won't hear the chime. But again, you'll lose about a second as the camera will snap a picture.

Hi,
This is still annoying on lollipop and Z2.
Please suppress it at least in silent mode.

You think I felt classy when trying to take pictures in a quiet gallery? Please enable 'off' on my z3

Guess what I found during trip to Japan.

I used Xperia Z3 Tablet during trip with Data Only SIM card for tourist.

Mtsteriously, the Camera shutter sound was turned on automatically as soon as I arrived Tokyo Narita Airport,

ON/OFF option of Camera sound within the setting of Camera application was disappered.

On the way back to Chicago, when airplane reached over Alaska, (received GPS and automatically adjusted time zone

to PST) Sound ON/OFF option came back.

I think SONY did really good job to follow the local rule.

Even FM radio frequency adapted to strange Japanese band.

Dear Sam from Sony,
I had this functionality on my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact in India and now it is not available after the Marshmallow update. Please confirm...
1. Exactly which Indian privacy law is Sony referring to?
2. How come the setting to turn off shutter shound was available with Lolipop? Was Sony breaking laws then?
3. How come this setting is very much functional on all other mobile brands available in India and running on Marshmallow?
