Hi!
I like my new Xperia Z1. But one things annoy me and that is the chimesound when I activate the camera. I want to be able to activate the camera with the shutter button without any sound what so ever. Is this is possble? Didn´t find anything in the sound- or cameramenues.
Thanx.

You cannot get rid of it,unless you root.
Hello, I too would like to request such a feature to be added into the next update. I am talking about an option to remove that sound. It's nice to hear during the first couple of times, but after that it becomes extremely annoying, not to mention how much attention it attracts. Sometimes this attention is not wanted, you don't want to stand out when taking photos, at least not usually. I don't know why the designers never thought of this.
Anyways, maybe someone would be able to make an app specifically for disabling this sound, without the need of root? Just like the Google Now Swipe disabler, which I thank god exists.
In a lot of cases you are unable to remove this sound due to privacy laws in the countries the handsets are made for.

And what good is forcing this sound if you can still mute it with Silent mode? It's pretty much making things uneasier for the user, while not really doing any service to these privacy laws.
Hey. As you all know, there is no way to turn off that annoying (and loud) sound of your camera app when you are launching it. A person from Sony has even said that this was done because of legal reasons (which quite frankly is yet another dose of bs, as the sound can be turne off with Silent mode, however this is a **bleep** way to go about it). It's the same story as Google Now Swipe - you cannot disable it.
UNLESS...
...somebody creates custom software especially with that purpose. This is the beauty of Android. When designers don't give us what we practically need to have - we just make an app for it ourselves and do it without their help. So... does anyone know of any program that can disable this sound, which always attracts attention and distracts people from any situation before you take the photo! It's absurdity. If not, how hard would it be to make one? I am willing to spend a couple of weeks myself trying to do it, if it means beating this nonsensical design flaw.
If i remember right, (here in Netherlands) it was by law that you have to use shutter sound.
Has to do with privacy. When people hear you make a picture in public of them, they can ask you not to do so if nessesary. Otherwise people don't know if you make a picture of them, and so privacy issue (you can be sued on worse case scenario)
Has anyone been able to find an app that completely mutes the camera app? The start-up sound is absolutely annoying and it can easily be turned off if you put the phone in silent mode. It's just stupid to force people to use silent mode before using the camera. Do you realize how **bleep** that is, in terms of functionality?

Yeah, sure. That's why the phone doesn't make a sound, when the camera is started normally, just as nearly all other smartphones. Only Sony-smartphones follow privacy laws, but only if you press the button. Mega-LOL
