Trouble connecting to computer

I have recently installed the Sony PC companion on my pc because I need to update the system, however my phone does n ot connect to my pc. When troubleshooting the device it says that the 'This device is not working properly because Windows (7) cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)". I would like to update the system soon. 

Any suggestions?
