Touchscreen not working

My Xperia Play r800i was working perfectly fine today, but maybe an hour ago it started having problems. First when the phone had the slider out the touchscreen wouldn't work, and then later that extended to the entire phone (now the touchscreen won't work no matter what). I read some stuff online, and I downloaded some sort of bridge thing for my phone - however, I can't reset it without unlocking the passcode first, which I need the touchscreen to do.

The slider buttons still work, but they can't really do much at this point. Please help! Thanks

I tried taking the battery out and putting it back in, but it doesn't work.

Also tried downloading the update service, but I can't get it to work since it needs me to unlock my passcode, which I can't do because the touchscreen is busted.

THen I tried googling how to factory reset it, but it doesn't work on my phone.

Please help!

I don't understand

Did you tried a factory reset but issue is the same or factory reset doesn't work/isn't available on your phone?

The factory reset method doesn't work on my phone, nothing happens when I try to do it.

Strange issue Thinking_Face

So you have to try to repair firmware with PC companion (A Windows PC is necessary)

You can use the following guide

http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Ion/Detailed-Software-Repair-Instructions-using-Pc-Companion-Wi...

If you can't do this step try to load your phone in safe mode and check if touchscreen works here

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold down the power key  until the phone vibrates.
  • Wait until the Xperia™ logotype disappears.
  • Press and hold the volume down key. The device then restarts in safe mode.
  • To exit safe mode, restart the device.

At last try to remove static electricity

- Remove battery

- Press and hold power button for 1/2 minutes

- Replug battery
