Touch Screen Unresponsive in certain points

Hey all,

I own an xperia active and recently, I have noticed that certain portions of my touch screen is unresponsive. While typing, I cannot type

n,m or backspace in portrait mode. Annoying Yeah. I don't suspect it's software related, is it?
I took this to a SONY service center and to my utter shock, they refused to service it since the phone was bought from UAE (I live in India).

What should I do next?

I'm sorry to hear that! Have you tried repairing the software through PC Companion? This is done while the handset remains completely powered off so you would not be required to use the Touch Screen.

To do a software repair Open PC Companion with the handset disconnected from the PC > Support Zone > Phone Software Updates > Repair My Phone (in blue writing).
