I just bought my Xperia M2 D2303 2 weeks ago, it has the lastest OS KitKat 4.4.4 and the touchscreen seems a bit faulty indeed. Swping in the keyboard randmly it breaks the words. I also tried testing the touchscreen dialing *#*#service#*#*, going to service test/touch screen and I see that when I swipe fast vertically the drawing line jumps. But randomly again.

Checking in the internet this appears to be a common problem with most if not all Xperia phone models. I mean, really Sony? I bought an Xperia because to me Sony is synonimous of quality, this is a real let down. Also because from what I've read some people sent the phone to be repaired and after getting it back it still had the issue.

Just go to settings about phone and tap build no then developer option should be unlocked.
Then go to devoleper options enable it and swipe down u should see force gpu2 rendering on that function

Nope. I just tried. Same thing (and that carried to Lollipop 5.1.1). I've noticed one thing though: while charging it's fine. I wonder if it is because it gets warmer.
