Hi, if it has been used constantly for calls/messages/browsing etc for 3 weeks since you had it 'submerged' & been working perfectly well i would not think it is related .......& the advice to take the screen off is just plain crazy
Can you see any visible signs of damage to the screen....a thin crack perhaps, this would cause your problem....try tilting/moving the screen when its off.
Do you have a screen protector on also.....
Give your local Xperia Care Centre a call......http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/
I agree with dandy . Taking off the back would also void your warrenty and you wouldn't have a ability to send it to sony for a inspection. Try pressing the yellow/red botton next to your sim and when its off plug it into charging. After 30 minutes come back to to and turn it on. If this wont work you have 2 more solutions , Do a system repair with PCC or contact sony and send them the device. Do you see any condensation on your rear camera lens? Also try checking the LDI (Liquid damage indicator) In the Z2 it should be placed under the SIM. Is it white or red?
