Touch screen not responding while using APN

Hello,
I have a Z1 COMPACT wich is working great.
10 days ago i started using Lebara Sim.
while i was out of WiFi i couldn't get internet connection, then i used the Lebara tool to configure the APN for activating my intenet+MMS.
all was good for a 30 minutes, then while i was using my phone outside , suddenly the touch screen stopped responding, the screen was not froze, i could use the volume buttons and see the scale going up and down, as well as the screen lock, and calls are getting in but can't be answered. BUT the touch is not working until i restart the device.
it took me days to understand its the APN settings that causing the issue. i did a factory reset and tried also an other sim that not demands APN settings and all is working well. this issue is happening every time i am using the phone outside with APN active.
PLEASE provide a solution for this weird issue.
Thank you,
Roi

Hi @Oroco,

What is the "Lebara tool"? Have you tried to manually enter your APN settings under Settings > More > Mobile networks > Access Point Names or to automatically download them under Settings > More > Internet settings (may require a WiFi-connection)?

When this happens, are you able to use your phone if you force a shut down (press and hold power- and volume up button) and reboot your phone?

Are you experiencing the same thing if you reboot your phone to safe mode?

Hello Didrik,

Lebara tool is an automatic way to configure the setting. I also tried to do it manually but it's still the same problem.

when this happens, i am able use the phone but not the touch screen, which means - i can accept calls with the earphones, pchange the volume up and down etc.... and i can press and hold power- and volume up button for a restart. but this is not a solution... Slightly_frowning_Face

i didnt tried safe mode, but i did a factory reset and didnt installed anything, i only configured the APN manualy.

thanks

I see. Have you tried to manually configure the APN-settings using another SIM-card in your phone? Does the same thing still happen?

I tried to do that but the other Sim is from an other provider which is not requires APN open, so it was all OK and no touch screen problems...

only with APN it happens.

So you are not using mobile data or sending MMS-messages while using the other SIM-card? The APN-settings by themselves shouldn't be causing this, try disabling Mobile data under Settings > Data usage and WiFi under Settings > WiFi, then while you are outside enable Mobile data again. Does the phone stop reacing to touch when Mobile data is enabled?

Yes , the phone's touch function stop reacting only while Mobile data is enabled, and its happens randomly - not immediately after enabling.

i know the APN-settings by themselves shouldn't be causing this, but never happend before and also not happening while this function is not ON.

In that case I'd advise you to perform a software repair using Xperia Companion. Remember to make a backup first since this will reset the phone, you can make a backup directly in Xperia Companion using the Backup option.

Once the software repair is completed, do not restore a backup at first. Start by downloading your APN settings followed by enabling mobile data in your phone, does this still happen?

Hey Didrik,
I tried to do it, i let the sony software fix the system files, then i started the phone without adding any new App , like i was just bought it now.
and yet, after a few minutes online outside the house (without WiFi) the touch screen froze again.
I can play, call, surf web on my phone the whole day while i am on WiFi internet, but when i go outside and surf on the APN and mobile data - it stuck at least 3 times a day .
this is bad, low quality, and i can't find more words to describe my disappointment from this SONY product.
I guess you cant find a solution for this.
thank you for trying, this was the LAST time of me buying any SONY product..

Hi again @Oroco,

I'm sorry to hear you are disappointed in your phone, although I can understand your frustration about this.

In this case however I suspect that what you are experiencing is related to hardware. I recommend that you have your device sent to and examined by an authorized service centre. Contact your Local support for information on how to send it in.
