I love the phone, but am over continually deleting apps when I hold the phone before it times out and the screen goes black. Process:
- do anything on the home screen
- stop doing anyting
- hold the phone (which means you are slightly touching the screen sides)
- a x goes next to each app (meaning it can be deleted)
- inadvertantly touch a x
Anyone got a fix for this that doesnt mean I have to use a different launcher?
That will remove the shortcuts on the home launcher, if you do this while on the app drawer it will give you the option to uninstall apps, but only the apps that you have installed and few preloaded apps. That's how its intended to work.
Also uninstalling apps will pop up a confirmation screen that you must confirm by pressing UNINSTALL at the bottom. Too much clicks to be touched by mistake.
My suggested fix: Get used to lock the phone by pressing the side power button everytime you stop using your phone.
I shouldnt have to hold this phone any differently than any other Android or Apple phone that I have used. That is the problem. It is way too easy to have the apps go into this X on icon mode. Unlike Apple devices, it goes into it when you just hold the screen for a few seconds. Apple only does this when you hold an app for a few secs. It is so easy to get into this mode by just holding the phone - that is the problem.
The only way I have got around it is to use a different launcher. I would much prefer to use the stock Sony one.
I understand that it might be a different experience but I find it quite useful but the great thing about Android is that you can download other apps to customize your phone
