The file recordings' names lack so much contrast against the background that they are virtually unreadable. I don't have any problems with contrast with anything else on my phone. Is there a setting that I can use to make these more visable?

You can try from your Home screen:

1. Tap the Application screen icon.
2. Find and tap Settings -> Apps.
3. Swipe to the All tab.
4. Find and tap on Xperia Home
5. Tap Force stop -> Clear data.
6. Restart the phone

Note that home screen will be reset to default settings (widgets/shortcuts). Check if problem persists after doing this.
