Today while vacuuming I used "Pocket Casts" to play some podcasts. The phone got noticeably hot, which it should not get while playing audio.
I had 100% at 09:00 and now it's 13:30 and I am at 20% battery left. I attached adb and checked CPU usage, and noticed media server hanging at 20% CPU utilization.
adb shell top -m 10

I used "close all apps" in application switcher / multitasking menu, but it did not help.
Rebooting the phone resolved the issue for me.
Most likely a software problem, try to reinstall your podcast app or perform software repair using Xperia Companion
