SW2: metal part of USB cover disjoint

Hello forum,

I got my SW2 for about 2-3 weeks now. I'm quite happy with it except the USB cover. It I had to guess I'd say that I charged it about 6 times. When I uncovered the USB port the last time, the metal part of it just fell off the rubber/plastic part that is connected to the watch by this small rubber strip.

It seems as if both parts were just plainly glued together. However, simply sticking both parts back together didn't work for long, as expected.

Anybody else got this problem? Is there any chance to change the complete cover? What do you think I could do now?

Hoping for some good ideas, cya,

Mattes

hey, did you get this sorted?

same thing has happened to my watch and i have to send it back to "get checked if the warranty covers this problem" and them I may incur a £15 charge if it isn't (after a 7day wait) 😕

just wondering if it's going to be worth the hassle?

Yes and no. I sent the watch to the support center. They replaced the watch and I got a new one.

However, this new one only worked for another 3 weeks. I was on a business trip at the airport when I had to hurry a little to get my connecting flight. To speed things up, I put the watch together with a pullover, a book and a pillowy covered notebook in my rucksack. When I arrived at my final destination, I wanted to put my watch back to my wrist. Sadly, I had to discover that somehow the display got broken.

The watch did not have ANY visible damage at the outside, not even a scratch. But the inner LC display some how "lost its ink" at one corner.

So I send this watch to the cusumer service again. They send it back to me and said the watch was mechanically broken which is not covered by gurantee. I protested and said that the way of using my watch was far from anything that should be able to harm a usual wrist watch in such a way. They denied and said that my only chance was contacting Sony Germany for obligingness.

However, they simply said the same. They argued that the watch was so high-quality-built that every production-linked damage could be eliminated. So I did some research and fould a disassembly guide on the internet which had pictures. Based on that I myself wrote another letter in which I clearly detailed that I cannot see that common usage (no more I did) could not damage a watch in that way. I also pointed out several things of the design that might get wrong in production and therefore I think it is very impudent to state that the production is fail-safe.

They denied. So I saw no chance. I disassembled the watch my self. I found out that it was so badly glued I did not even have to use any tools to disassemble it. The inner body could be pushed very easily from the outer frame. The display glass could be removed from the inner body just by using my finger nails.

Although the concept of the watch (hardware as well as software) is quite good, I have to say DON'T BY SONY SW2 since it sooo badly produced.
