Hi,
Over the last 24 hours i've notice my Xperia Z2's battery is draining very quickly, even when asleep. Even when it is plugged in charging, i keep getting messages saying the phone is unable to charge as it is using too much power. And previously i could charge the phone overnight fully, now it doesnt get close to 40%
In addition to this ive noticed it is kicking out a lot of heat at the top of the phone, and also i can no loger connect to the internet via wifi.
Everything else seems ok, and i have managed to back up my data to an sd card. I havent added any new apps recently.
I've had the phone for less than a year and as far as i know it hasnt had any heavy drops or anything.
Has anyone got any cheap fix ideas or will it need to be sent of for repair?
Thanks in advance
Simon
Hopefully no need to send it to repair, first of all let the phone drain to 20-30% and go to Settings -> Power Management -> Battery Usage and check what's the most power consuming apps and report them here.
You can also check if this drain happens in safe mode:

If you already have all your data backed up, I'd suggest that you do a PC Companion phone repair, this will do a clean installation of the latest firmware and will also wipe your internal memory. Open PC companion -> Support zone -> Phone/tablet software update -> Repair my phone/tablet (blue link style). Follow the steps given, do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable.

Hi Simon, first thing i would do is try running it in Safe Mode fo a while.....even tho you've not added any new Apps lately there could be one acting up, Sfe Mode will determine this............if no difference then my next step would be to do a PCC Repair but just double check that you do as mentioned have everything backed up.
Keep us updated :smileysmileywink:

Hi,
Thanks for your respsonse... I'll update thus far....
When I got to work, the phone was extremely hot, with a battery level of about 10%. As it was so hot I was a bit worried about it so I elected to switch it off and try and sort it out this evening.
I'm now at home, and it will not switch on at all. I've tried charging it and the red light comes on at the top of the phone, but it wont switch on, i've left it charging for about an hour and it still wont switch on.
I've also downloaded the PC companion and followed your instructions to reinstall, but it asks me to charge it to 80% before i install... but it wont charge, I tried installing anyway, but nothing happened, I tried doing the hold the up volume and on switch, but nothing happened.
I'll keep charging a bit longer and see if anything happens but im not hopeful 😞
Does anyone know how long a UK warranty is on these phones? I'm with EE if that makes any difference.
Thanks
Simon
Still no luck, its completely dead.
