Storage showing unnecessary data after jellybean update.

while checking storage option under the settings i found out that Misc is taking 2.57 gb of my data.Which i saw for the first time after jellybean update.Under Misc it's showing DCIM is taking 742 Mb of my data but i don't have any photos or videos taken from my camera stored in my device.So can i delete this DCIM folder to gain some space?Due to 11 gb of space i can't install hugh games on my phone.So it will help a little by creating some extra space.you can see that wallpaper images are only taking 90 mb space.So what does they mean by DCIM?

It will be deleted for good,i tried it with some songs.they appeared in audio,where were all the songs&ringtones on the phone,and in misc there were only those from music folder which i created.Thats why the dimensions differ,misc has just your songs in music folder and audio has everything on the phone.

I got it.742 mb is actually size of thumbnails of all the photos i have taken or downloaded till now.But after deleting those photos thumbnail still remain in our phone.Which we can remove manually.

Of course,thumnails are autogenerated so the photos you have can be previewed.but if you do so with the music,it will be gone.

After deleting unnecessary thumbnails my storage still shows 731mb of data taken by thumbnails.How 90mb of my images stored in my phone taking 8 times of it size for only thumbnails?

Try to connect to your PC, then go to your control panel and click folder option. Then try to show all hidden files. Maybe those file size are from back-up and restoring method.

I do not know,it is very strange,try what casimir told you,see if anything else will show up in hidden files.

I too am having this problem you'll see in my first image my audio is 3.19GB but i also have the same audio size in my misc folder in the 2nd image
