Squeal / Screech during call

On Sunday afternoon I was having a conversation with only wi-fi enabled (and it wasn't updating either) and all of the sudden there was a loud squeal / screech (similar to a high pitch noise from a hearing aid). It did this for about 3 or 4 seconds and turned off.

I would like to know a: whether anyone else has had the same experience and b: hardware or software.

I would also like to throw this phone into a lake as I'm having so much trouble with it. I have built computers for the best part of 20 years and in my experience, heat = hardware.

Hard to say what may have caused that. If the phone turned itself off completely something in the system might have stopped responding. Try updating/repairing the phones software if it happens again.

If only the call was cut off it might have been a network problem. I have experienced something similar to what you describe when using VoIP a few times from a computer. If you were using VoIP it might have been that.
