I have a 19 (nineteen) day old Z2, it has been a great pone, except for one thing. The back glass just shattered!
I have not droped it, It does not have a single scratch on it. Yet i placed it on my computers tower and went to the bathroom, i came back after 10 mins and strated watching some Dragon Ball Z and heard a crack a few minutes after sitting down. I imiediatly picked up my phone and noticed nothing, and said to my partner "MY PHONES MAKING A CRACKING SOUND!" I turned it off right away. it continued to make cracking sounds for about 2 minuites before i nearly cut my finger on the back, then i noticed and boy was i irritated.
I then imidiatly grabed my parteners galxy and stated to film it in hopes of getting the sound on cammera, that wasnt all i got, it was still cracking. I now have a video of the Z2 smashing its self.
This is a outrage, im not paying this kind of money for a something with the build quility of a LG phone.
Completly disapointed in Sony,
wewty.
Sony did not thought this through clearly :C Glass is kinda a bad idea to be used as a back panel as it will definitely shatters. The processor is like just behind it and the heat will obviously be passed into the panel and since it's waterproof again, mot users would probably put it in water where the water will evaporate carrying the heat, causing it to rapidly cool. Now we now that heating and cooling it rapidly would cause fragile stuff to break., in this case, the back panel. The front panel won't probably experience the same amount of thermal energy as the back panel.
Now for the solution to your problem. Bring it back to the shop?
Never has touched water or liqud in anyway shape or form, i have checked the water indactors anyway, cause u never know. Its 19 days old, its ment to have a 2 year warranty (australian consumer laws state min 2 year on any electrical goods) .
now for a respose to your soloution, would you beleve it if i brang in a phone to be replaced every month because of a shattered pannel or would you think i was recless with it and was full of S@!*, breaking it my self..
I called up and telstra ( the biggest service provider ) said more or less i was a lair and this is un heard of, yet a simple google seach shows thousands of cases of this.
A fult like this should be known to ALL of Sony's distributors and yet it is not.
In AUS it is against our rights and laws to sell selectrical goods that will break within 2 years with out replacment.
As far as im conserend it is a corprate scam, as they have not informed there distrubiter of a disign flaw, and there for will not replace it because to the distributor it does not exist.
But i have proof of it smashing its self (litteraly).
I should of worded it better in the origanal post but i was verry fustrated at that point it time.
To a Sony employee, why are the distributors not informed about this?
...can we see the video?
unfortunatly the video contains explicit language, and im pretty sure that is agaist the terms and conditions to this fourm, i will upload it to youtube as soon as i can and post a link to this thread, though my prority at this piont in time is to get my phone fixed or replaced with out me having to pay for it, hence the video.
