Spiro - Requests for next SoftwareUpdate

Hey Guys, hey SE-Team!

Spiro is my aktucaly phone and there are much problems

The problems stars with the basics of the phone: When I open something, like sounds or videos on the phone, its realy slow. I think the access to the SD(HC) card is difficult to the phone, so I tried java-apps, but mostley they won't start or they givven up after a while. The OS is buggy, the memory or RAM is limited, this fucks me up. The functions are very limited so I would have at least desired video-streaming - is not possible. No rtsp support? Also no full screen for videos? oO

Anyway, java crashes all the time, can't install the simples apps like Opera Mini, annoying. Same in the themes, same in the phone-mode on PC.... The phones itselfs crashes on playing media files...

And yep, I've installed the latest software update, but there was no change, It is tough and slow. SE, please help the Spiro users!

the phone might be a very cute and stylish one but its very delicate. it hangs if we multitask (most of the time) and restarts(which is mentioned by sony ericsson) .. the conversation feature is very good but try not to use it too often and make sure u clear sent messages and unwanted sms as the phone memory is 5MB.. my advise would be to use the Inbox - Reply more frequently rather than using the Conversation feature.. and if ur into Conversation then have a bit of patience cos its not as fast as normal sms feature on this phone.

i dont know how much of the problem can be solved with a software upgrade from SE's website but would recomend that... and i hope SE comes up with a software fix for SPIRO as they have done with  SATIO ..

SE is a great brand and Walkman Phones probably give u the best music experience which stands next to Iphone!

i was having some software issues with SPIRO ( restarting frequently, gets hanged all of a sudden despite not using many applications ).. so decided to update the software using SE's Update Service. unfortunately nothin much has changed. i was clicking pictures and all of a sudden it got restarted! ...

guys at SONY ERICSSON i agree you have made a budget phone in the form of SPIRO but it should not be a substandard product in terms of Software / Firmware! it could have been a great small cute phone but the software / firmware has killed it unfortunately

are you developers/engineers at Sony Ericsson listening to us..? please come up with a software upgrade immediately.

i would like to point out few issues which are very annoying :

. while doing sms inbox or conversation mode it gets hanged / restarted .

. while taking pictures, it gets restarted sometimes.

. while browsing internet, at times it gets restarted unnecessarily (even when we are browsing a simple website like Facebook).

. sms memory over ( even though there is sufficient memory available )

I bought 2 SE spiros and they have same bug, as you mentioned and when listening to radio and removing the handsfree when someone is calling then the system crashes or you can awser the call and after that nothing works. Also when uploading files to Memorycard and removing the cabel after that the automatic button lock doesnt work when closing the lid also i have noticed that the time and date are going wrong sometimes. When someone calls and the battery warns thats its going empty by vibration then the caller can hear loud motor sound at the same time.

Lates Software update done.

I have wasted 185 EUR for a phone that only makes you wanna useit as a Hammer maybe SE is going to build hammers! a new business.

My old W200i is working perfectly but how the new w100i spiro is a piece of crap?

now i m experiencing a new bug.. my walkman player crashes and the phone restarts.. at least 3 times .. gosh this phone super sucks.. i wonder what people in SE are doing.. are they even bothered about their reputation and brand value ? so many software realted problem.. !!!

sony ericsson should immediately come up with a software update for SPIRO . there is no use of updating it to the current software update through SE's site as it does not fix any software issue.

we guys should all post in this thread so that it draws the attention of SE soon and hope they release a software update for SPIRO.

Ok, We conclude:

Bugs

General:

• crashes, hangs & restarts on every interaction with the phone
• too low memory OR the software (also known as firmware or ROM) don't free ressources
• very budget, but pricing actualy high
• after memory/data-mode on PC, the phone crashes, no more use for java/walkman AND no use for perhaps memory card -> restart the phone = fix
• Sony Ericsson Update Service with lastest firmware (here: R1BF006/VF-Branding) and Master Reset on the Phone brings no changes
• key lock doesn't work if you are in walkman/radio-mode
• theme-support??
• time and date on occasion is wrong & that's why the alarm-app is useless
• randomly restarts and crashes on receive an sms or call oO
• Battery drains quickly (charge every day)
• since update to R1BF007: more crashes and restarts
• since update: wiry promts "Allow internet access?" on Obigo, Java dual signed Apps etc...  <<<- WTF?!
• can not write messages (in java/browser/mms) over 140 chars -> it will be shorten to '...........................' etc
• unable to view large images (see)

SMS/MMS-App:

• restarts on write an message in "chat"/conversation-mode
• hangs while receive an message / restart
• errors can be difficult to reproduce, but sometimes unusable
• memory errors; "out of memory"

Camera:

• it hangs and feels like gum, which is already years old
• crashes / restarts of app or/and phone

Native Internet Browser (Obigo):

• many freezes while download something is bigger than 1 MB (I've an microSDHC-Card of 4 GB!!!!)
• the pages often not load / abort / too big etc..
• hangs and crashes the complete system (back to main screen and freeze [restart = fix])
• restarts of browser

Java-Apps general:

• can't install much apps but sometime it works
• can't run much apps (most of them)
• hangs while doing complex actions, phone-restart after a while
• randomly memory errors ("can't read memory card" / "out of memory" / "operation failed")
• crashing internet-connection
• crashing background-apps (walkman, radio, etc)
• crashing internet-connection after 5 mins
• while exiting an app, crashes the phone OR the memory card (can't access to card or walkman)

Walkman:

• crashes and hangs while listen music (can't read memory card, song can't played)
• shuffle-mode isn't shuffle because it doesn't store shuffled songs
• (phone) restart while have much music in the libary
• often the libary cleans itself after crash / restart
• stereo widening is always "on", but it isn't on. If it's on, it goes off on skip to the next title
• Walkman deleted all music/OR/Data from memory card inexplicably (see #)

Radio App:

• restarts of phone, if its out of memory
• radio-app exits

Improvements / wishlist / feature requests

General:

• fix the nasty bugs (top)
• add an "phone mode" - we know from c510 or s312 - for accessing the modem/phonebook/system/memory card quickly
• allow multitasking (java) and backgrounding (java) on own risk (also/OR via hidden keys, if you like)

Media-App:

• add real fullscreen for videos/pics
• add rtsp-functions for youtube or audio-broadcast

Walkman:

• jump to a specific time (especially for podcasts and long-time-songs; also/OR via hidden keys, if you like)
• control back/forward by press the wipe-control-button long time up/down (like in the radio-app)
• add an category for podcasts

SMS-App:

• Add Email-functions

Sony Ericsson Developer-Team will hear us, i hope so. If you/I/we have more bugs/feature requests, i'll add it and improve the list.

And, please! Give Spiro an chance! my previous phone was an s312, this was BETTER than spiro - and it was cheaper. Spiro is a damn small, cute walkman-phone, which need an working software & good media and press. I don't think you had done an good job, if you ignoring your consumers

SE cant say that all the bugs are becouse its a cheap phone as for other phones that are cheap like LG, Nokia they all work atleast and do not need a restart all the time.

I thought i´d go to the consumer protection union to make a coplain if the software update dont fix problems and let SE to collect all the Spiros from the market or change them to workable phone models for free like. The sad thing is that i have used Ericsson phones from year 1998 and how the f**k they f**k up with this phone.

To SE " I dont care, make it happen! "

Today i slep in becouse my alarm didnt work and thats becouse my Spiro had chrashed while i was a sleep after a restart i got an SMS from a friend that was sent at night.

Did SE use POT smoking student inseners on theyr top aka low end models?

I already updated/reinstalled the phone software but still no luck….

Still  the phone freezes/hangs once in a while, the walkman equalizer doesn’t  work oh yeah it works alright on the first song then it resets to normal  setting, the phone restarts while playing music, in play mode when set  to “shuffle” some tracks are not played and some are played redundantly,  slow when viewing GIF files, stereo widening is always on… although you  set it “off” after a while it turns back “on”.

Battery drains quickly you have to charge everyday….. That’s Sony Ericson Spiro for you!!!

I wouldn't expect to much.

I bought this phone early september and had bugs showing up everywhere from day one.

Havent heard about an update since.

Sony ericsson should be ashamed of themselves.

How can a firm like this do something this amateuristic.

I had enough of it and will try to return my phone next week since i don't expect SE to do anything about it.
