speaker accidently pressed during call

Hi all!

I'm having a really annoying problem with my new Xperia mini: during a call, I keep pressing by mistake the speaker icon in the top left corner of the screen.

Is there any way not to display this icon or maybe lock the keys during a call?

Thanks,

Nadav.

I don't believe there's a way to disable that function - it's just not a problem for many people.

It's unclear whether you are accidentally switching the speaker on or off - or how and when that happens.

If you are switching the speaker on accidentally, chances are your ear is touching the screen.  Holding the phone correctly will cure that - a bit lower down towards your chin will position the speaker close to your ear and allow the sensor to detect that the phone is next to your face which will switch the screen off and prevent accidental touches.

If you are switching the speaker off accidentally - hold it without curling your fingers around.

This is a very small phone so if you're used to something larger, it's just something you'll get used to.  Hold it so that feels like it's only half-way up your ear rather than pressing your ear against the glass - that will cure the problem.  You want the speaker against your ear-hole - not the screen.

Indeed there isn't a way to do this but you could use a different dialer, the proximity sensor should lock the screen

pengipete - thanks for your anwer, but i think that if you need to get used to somthing, it's not designed well.

SuperUser - i tried 2 different dialers but in both cases when i call i get the regular screen with the 4 icons in the corners.

and besides, isn't this something the proximity sensor supposed to solve?
