its for marketing purposes. if they announce or release kitkat update for sp it will affect the sales of other xperias like m2 t2 ultra because it is available at cheap price than m2 and t2 ultra.if even they release kitkat update they will release after august

I don't generally believe in trying to create a conspiracy based on speculation, but I do believe the man has a point.
Check the M2 specs for example - it's *extremely* similar to the SP. It's just there for the sake of having a "new" model to launch, nothing new there for the customer. Meanwhile the barely 1 year old SP gets shunted off to the side. Shame they won't keep supporting the SP and release new models when they really do have something innovative that'll make upgrading worth it.
/rant over.

I don't agree with "extreemely" similar. M2 is nowhere around SP level. Having lower CPU, GPU, and screen. Probably is just having better camera quality as SP is bad it is.
Never let specs get in the way of a good rant.
Hi, guys,
I think a true succesor to SP will launch in summer. Let's be honest M2, T2 are not good enough to call them successors to SP. Aside from resolution both have lower ppi screens, same amount of ram, lesser gpu. They are not as compact as SP and build materials are plastic and non-branded glass. If SP had a good 4.3 update I don't think someone with a little knowledge would choose M2/T2 over SP.
Here's another conspiracy for you: they deliberately messed the update up (no I don't believe that) So, if SP2 will launch in july, it will have kitkat. We'll have KK after that.
Sony was not one of those manufacturers that did not give a **bleep** about midrange. Just look at S and P they both have the same official fw, same goes for T & V. Though time was different back then, I still thought SP was going to be treated with KK considering how few models they launched in 2013.
To add to it, I just read that LG L9 II is getting KK, HTC desire 601 is getting it too. Yes they are newer but you can say that about M and L, too which won't get KK.
Sony will keep it's promise, if not then I won't have a fav brand anymore.
