Sony Z5 Premium dualsim (2G network to shutdown Dec 1St)
Purchased this phone just a few months ago, and received a letter from Telstra that my 2G service will be shut Dec 1st I have Telstra Sim in slot 2 for calls as there are better data plans from Vodafone. What I cannot understand is why they are forcing us to buy a new phone, when the phone runs snapdragon 820 and you can switch (via S/W) Which slot to use for data therefore 4G LTE. The OS should be able to offer auto-switching to receive call on either Sim slot (to 3G or 4G) but maybe halt data services during that call. Reverting back to 4G LTE preferred status after the call. Similarly for the receipt of SMS and MMS. I think these phone vendors are having us on. It's all a software problem they obviously don't want to work on. This may be an opportunity for app makers. Unfortunately we in Australia haven't the benefit of multiple numbers on one SIM offered by On-off and Swytch in UK.
I can however suggest to change the network type of that particular network to LTE pref,/wcdma or wcdma only. that way it wont receive the 2g signals anymore
