Sony Z Ultra Sim card reader error?

Hello everyone,
When I try to put *any* SIM card on my Sony Z Ultra phone all I get are these icons on the notifications and a "No sim card - No service" message on the top left.
No matter what SIM card I try to use, it's the same thing. Even if I leave the sim caddy empty, I still get those ame icons.
This phone used to perform fine last time I used it.
I do remember having to pull a little harder the sim caddy last time I wanted to take my sim card out, as it seemed stuck in there, but nothing too forceful.

Is the inner sim card reader broken or something?
Anything I can do to fix this?

Any help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks Slightly_smiling_Face

@koroshiya

It might be, first repair the phone with PCC and report back

PC Companion (PCC)

Bridge (for Mac)

@uliwooly

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I have just finished repairing using the PCC but unfortunately nothing has changed.

I still get those same notification icons, and the "No sim card - No service" message.

What do these notification icons on the top right mean?

Especially the first one with the sim card and the exclamation mark

@koroshiya

Are you able to make calls? how about data?

How can I make any calls if there is no cellular service?

Everything else seems to work fine with the phone and data works fine under WiFi.

I am thinking of sending this to Sony for a repair, any idea how much they would charge to fix this?

Hi @koroshiya,

The icon indicates that your phone does not recognise if a SIM card is inserted.

Since this behaviour remains even after a software repair and when you try with different SIM cards I suggest that your phone gets examined further at an authorised service center. Contact your Local support for more information about how to proceed.
