Sony Xperia Z1 Compact bent

After just 2 months of using my Sony xperia Z1 compact I have seen a slight bent on one side of the phone.

After googling the problem I have found numerous similair cases all over the internet.

I gave my phone back to the shop where I bought it and after ...1,5 month I got possibility to pay almost same price 450chf to repair/exchange it or 50chf for service costs without any repair.

Frommulitiple forum posts I findout that the bent is caused when the battery swells due to heating during charging or normal use. After the telephone cools down the two green parts made of a flexible synthetic material switch back and the aluminum components don't, which is the reason why there is a gap between the metal structure and the green layer as on the picture.

I requested this clear fault of the phone to be taken under waranty as it has been under similair cases

One of the comments : "Just got my new replacement from Sony. ‘turns out that Sony center Philippines Completely ruled out the possibility of owner’s negligence (in my case at least) as they didn’t see any marks indicating that the device had been subjected to force, pressure or accidentally dropped, they actually quick to say that the issue is a factory defect and that they will give me a replacement shortly.. That being said, I am very much happy that Sony is aware of this kind of issue.. ‘guess I have to look closely to every corner of the phone before buying one next time..

Hello. So I also buy my a Sony Xperia Z1 compact in Media Market in Germany and after a few months it also bent... Then went there back with it and then they said that they would send it back to Sony for a response and after 3 weeks I got back there because I had no response in that time and they said that the warranty don't work with this problem, and that I had to pay arround 100€ to fix it... I want to know if this is true that the warranty don't work with this problem, and want can I do?

I too have a bent Sony Xperia Z1 Compact.  I took my phone in the pool and it got water damage.  I had no idea that the phone was bent and if I was aware that they are so susceptible to bending I would never have purchased it in the first place.  Furthermore the customer service has been the worst customer service I have ever known.  I sent my phone in on the 28th August and only heard back today from the escalation team.

I am going to take legal advice to recovering my costs.
