Sony Xperia Tipo not detecting sim card

I have bought Sony ericsson tipo one and half year back  for  Rs 9200/- and it was worked fine till last week. Now it is not detecting any sim card so i visited sony ericsson authorized service centers in indiranagar and Jayanagar and they said  there is problem with slim slot but for that we have to change entire mother board of the phone and it costs around Rs 6000/- Any other alternative available to rectify above problem with out changing entire mother board ???

Try something basic: get a brand new SIM card and test it, if that doesn't work then it might be a hardware issue, if it is a hardware issue you will have to replace the motherboard which will cost you close to the same price as the phone. 

Also repair your phone with SUS or PCC
