Sony Xperia SP camera photo noise

Dear Sony and all users,

I'm using the Xperia SP phone now, I'm aware from the reviews that the photos from the camera produces some noise, but the actual outcome is still a surprise and disappointment to me.

I wish this is an noise reduction algorithm issue, not the hardware issue since i believe Sony's CMOS sensor is one of the best in digital cameras.

will it be possible to improve this issue by a software upgrade later ??

To other users,

Appreciate whether you can share some solutions or temporary fix for this issue? FYI, I tried the advanced settings such as fix the ISO at 200, the noise is same, i don't know what else i can do as there's no settings to adjust the noise reduction level, which is available on some digital cameras.

thanks.

Attached example, left picture from Xperia SP, right picture from Galaxy S. Pls click on the photo for enlarged picture.

first shot - Good light condition outdoor, Xperia SP ISO set at 200, normal mode, HDR off. Notice the green area on the sign board, lot of noise

second shot -- Indoor close up test, Xperia SP ISO set at Auto, normal mode, HDR off. Noise noticed.

Hi, Super User or Sony Support Team,

Do you have any comments to the photo? And will you be able to let us know, whether is Sony working on the software update at least trying to improve this issue? I'm not asking for a confirmed fix, but I think this issue is a product bug, all I want to know as consumer is, is there plan to fix this bug or it is hardware related which is not likely to be improved by software update?

Thank you for posting your feedback about this.

We always try to improve the camera quality and performance in software updates and your input is valuable for us. I will pass this on internally as feedback.

helloo,

even with the Auto ISO and HDR the same problem of noise you will find. where as in same light condition the low grade smart phone of samsung S-duos, with 5mp giving better picture quality even on zooming.

secondly the touch focus is required. you will find it same in all suppliers. I dont knwo if any technical or copy right problem but beimg customer i prefer to have that option.

Johan can you advise us to get the best picture quality.

I believe the CMOS sensor in the SP is particularly poor.  Even at base ISO there is a lot of noise.  And the noise reduction processing which is present is very clumsy.  It leaves noise in lots of places and smears detail in other places.

Maybe it's just a very, very small sensor.  So even though it's BSI (backlit) it's still very noisy.  And nothing Sony can do will improve this.  They could increase noise reduction but you will get more smearing of the picture.  It's a lose-lose situation.

Still, at least the video is nice to my eyes.

Hi All,

I have recently got my Xperia SP. I was using a much older Samsung Galaxy I9003 earlier to this, and I can clearly see lot of difference in the camera quality. I9003 had a 5MP camera and no flash, and it gave me better image quality than XSP.

I did install the latest update, but I could hardly see any(or no) improvement in the camera quality. However, I have tried installing the 4.3 camera that is available on XDA forums and it does give me better pictures than the stock camera. This gives a small hope that this problem with stock camera can be fixed with some future software update.

hi friends

I am using xperia SP and was facing the same camera problem that everyone here is discussing. one of my friends told me about PROCAPTURE software. I installed it and u wont believe, the pics it captures now are no less than any professional digital camera. They are so clear, crisp, real like color and no pixelation on zooming. Its a great relief guys. Just try it. m using free version.  Full version is paid but it wud be worth spending some bucks to relieve enormous tension that SONY has given this tym.

Another thing evident now is that sony Camera hardware doesnt have any problem. Its the software which is infectious. SONY plz do something to bring back you campower. PLZ plz plz..

Thanx

The photo quality of Sony Xperia Z seems to be very good, can't you put the same software in other Xperia phones.

The speaker volume is very less. Can we increase it, because while listining the musing without headphone the sound level is very low.

Can you please add "Video Calling" also, like that samsung does. I am not talking about video calling through "Skype" etc.

I am talking about "Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual SIM" phone.
