Hello,
My name is Georgi Georgiev and I'm form Bulgaria. I've recently purchased a Sony Xperia SL.
I was trying to find a place on this website where I can express my frustration. So I guess I can do it here.
1. The scratch resistant touch screen of my smartphone was sverely scratched by a plastic object while both were put in my bag.
2. A couple of days later I had my smartphone and a plastic lighter in my pocket. While sitting on a chair I heard a crack.
I took out the phone and found out that the touch screen is crack only from the inside with no damage on the serface of the screen.
The cracks start from the SONY logo and reach the sensor buttons.
I am really amazed how such a small pressure could do so much damage to the screen. I am wondering if my have a factory defect or the whole buzz about the durability and the scratch resistance of the touch screen is just a marketing trick.
Best regards,
Georgi
1.) the scratch is most probably on the shatterproof film not on the glass itself.
2.)the phone was not advertised that it would be shock resistant/proof.
try contacting your local service center to see if they can replace the damaged parts for a fee, http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/
Thanks for the answer!
1. Sorry, but I cannot agree with you. When I buy a "scratch resistant" phone I expect to receive exactly that. And it is a problem when I see the scratches every time I use my phone.
2. You are right. I am just completely amazed how such a small pressure applied on the screen was that small and did that kind of damage.
The other strange thing is there while there's no physical damage to the surface of the screen, there are big cracks internally.
The top of everything was when I contacted the service center and I had to find out that I have to replace both the touch screen and the LCD display (the LCD i completely intact). The price of this is 1/2 of the price of the smartphone itself.
1.) the ony part of the phone that is scratch resistant is the screen that is under the shatter proof film.
2.)

---that's probably because of the shatter proof film.
have they given you like a "report" on what was wrong with the LCD? most of the problems here are only the digitizer, its weired they have to replace the internals too,
No, no report. I am actually continuing to use the phone right now - no damage to the LCD, no damage to the surface of the touch screen. So everything works OK, except that I have to look at these crack every time I use the phone
I was told from a couple of Sony authorized service providers that for this model the touch screen digitalizer and the LCD display are one set - you cannot buy one without the other. I also read a couple of forums where I received the same information.
Is there any way to purchase the touch screen separately?
i think no. and if you use other than sony spare parts, you would lose your warranty. so best stick to the service center for the mean time,
