Not sure what to do anymore. I've had my Z2 now little under a year and towards the end of May, kept having massive overheating issues, a battery life of about 4 hours and most annoyingly, an intermittent USB point which meant that the USB cable had to be sat at an angle to charge the phone.
Anyway.... booked it in with Sony UK and it keeps coming back with the same fault. Other than swap my brand new charging block and cable for a dirty tired old unit, I can't see what else they've done to it. I recieved it back the first time in mid June and literally 10 minutes after opening up the package, I realised the USB issue was still present. Sent it back on the advice of Sony UK and I've just received it back again this morning. Guess what? Exactly the same USB issue.
Not sure what to do now......any advice?
Do you not get any paperwork back with it saying what has been done, are the other faults fixed & only the USB port not working?
They may not want to fix it if they think it is a non warranty issue......you could try charging thru the magnetic port but obviously have to purchase a cable.
Under UK consumer law if it has been sent back twice or more for the same issue then you are entitled to a pro-rata refund or a replacement device of the same or better quality NOT LESS - You may need to take this further and ask for a deadlock letter and then seek out an approved engineer for a report saying it has an issue - Then they will either as required by law do the above things or you will need to take this to the small claims court - You will find yourself out of pocket but you will get all expenses back if and only if the engineers report finds in your favor
Same here. Received 'repaired' phone back from the repair shop and it was totally discharged.
Part of the problem was that the battery was dead, and wouldn't charge (via USB or Mag), so at first, I thought it might be fixed - but then I thought; "it either hasn't been tested, or the battery has gone flat during transit."
Paperwork suggest that the only thing that was done, was to replace the battery - so why did I get it back 2 days later totally discharged?
After charging though, I quickly discovered that the other faults still exist (can't connect to WiFi or Bluetooth, phone gets hot in standby, battery drains rapidly in standby).
My conclusion: A human being with little or no technical ability can test the device and see that it fails, but the official repair and testing process can't.
