i've been trying to solve this for days now.
Sony PC Companion does not detect my phone when i have installed it
computer does not detect phone alone
computer only detects a prompt to install spcc from the phone.
i have:
- installed SPCC from the phone (didnt work)
- installed the latest spcc 2.10.108_Web from the sonymobile site (same result as above)
- restarted the computer/ turning on and off my phone while the phone is still connected to the computer (nothing)
- setting the phone to USB Debugging (nothing that i noticed
- i tired spcc again while disabling my firewall (no result)
- i believe my ICS version is 6.1.A.2.50 (i cant update the software because i cant connect it to spcc, when i search for updates via wifi on my acro s they say i already have the latest software while the website http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/software/phones/xperia-acro-s/
states the latest version is a 6.1.A.1.58 ?)
i downloaded and extracted xperia_acro_S_driver from this site, but i dont know how to install this after extracting its contents. There are no instructions for this driver that was provided here http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/xperia-acro-s-driver-for-ics/
i noticed when i go through Device Manager from control panel there is a "yellow exclamation mark ! " with the word MTP. ( i havent figured this problem out yet)
Can anyone help me?
Perhaps you can use some of the tips from this thread: http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/328564#328564
I had a lot of trouble getting the update to start using Sony Bridge for Mac. I'm running Mac 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). My Acro S device was only partially detected no matter what I did (including the tips Johan gives in the thread linked to above). I then figured out that I'd try to update without the SD card installed and lo behold! The update started. So, one more simple thing to try out if you are having similar problems: remove the SD card.
I hope this helps someone facing the same difficulties.
Troubleshoot Compatibility, which is found if you right click the desktop icon for PC Companion. For me, the system suggested Windows XP Service Pack 2 compatibility, I accepted that, ran the program again and connected the phone. It worked! I now have full connectivity with the phone. Worth a try, see if this helps.
