[Sony Doesn't care this at all] WiFi Status locked, cannot change or turn off

It looks like this is a general problem after ICS upgrade for Sony Xperia phone.

I didn't have this problem before even in worse firmware 6.1.1.B.1.10, but after using 6.1.1.B.1.54 two weeks, I have the problem now...

I can connect to AP after boot.

After use for a little time, the process "wpa_supplicant" start running, and never stop, just like the screenshot below (right-top corner).

When the process "wpa_supplicant" is running, I can neither turn off the WiFi, nor make any setting change about WiFi.

What I can do is reboot.

It looks that the WiFi status was been locked by this process.

According the information on the web (reference), this issue can be fixed after delete the file /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant_bagscan.db. (rooted required)

But this file will automatic generated by wpa_supplicant, so the same problem may happens again.

Is there any way to fix this issue without rooted?

No, Sony never give any useful response even it happens more than 2 month

SONY We need your help here - do not ignore us - we simply can not work with your mobile when the wifi seems to work (and can not be turned off) - while no connection for any type (wifi or 3G) is available.  this means that most day your mobile devices are simply out of internet connection..  Please respond !

I have the same problem. Wifi gets locked and doesn't work and I can't turn it off, all I can do is reboot the whole phone.

I believe I've got the the same problem although I'm not knowledgeable enough to say if it's the wpa_supplicant issue. My phone is not rooted and has only been reflashed through PCC and SUS

Never had a problem before ICS. A few weeks after ICS upgrade would get condition with WiFi enabled where data connection would be lost (no Internet access) and unable to turn off WiFi. Only solution was to power cycle the phone. After a week of this behaviour I reflashed the phone with SUS which cleared the problem for about 3 weeks.

The problem has now returned. When attempting to disable WiFi the waves of the glyph turn on and off and WiFi remains on with no data connection (SIM or WiFi). Only solution is to power cycle the phone.

I have now updated to the x.54 version of ICS and the issue still persists.

Looks like the only solution is to reflash the phone again and go through the setup process.

I would ideally like this problem sorting or to be able to return my phone for a refund.

I reinstalled ics with SUS for about 2 weeks, and so far have not had any problems. I think that still is not solved because the people who did the same as I did, after a few weeks once again have the same problem.

Still is to last longer than that when reinstalled with pc companion (the problem was solved only for 2 days)

Sony, please take care of this matter

I have the same problem after the ICS update, such an annoying bug. I cannot use the wifi without rebooting afterwards. But the worst thing is that Sony does nothing. Unbelievable.
