Sony Bridge for Mac has stopped detecting Xperia S

Hi,

I downloaded and successfully used the Sony Bridge software for Mac to upload music, movies etc onto my Xperia S a few days ago - I had no problems in doing so.

But now I have come to connect the phone and - nothing. It does not detect the phone when plugged in by USB, and instead just says 'Could not connect to the phone. Please disconnect and reconnect it again. Restart the phone if the problem persists.'

I've tried unplugging the USB cable and reinserting it; restarting the Sony Bridge software; restarting the phone and the computer. Still, nothing.

I'm using Mac OS 10.6.8, Sony Bridge v2.2 and an Xperia S.

I really can't understand why it has suddenly stopped detecting the phone after working so well before.

If anyone could help, it'd be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Bridge for Mac used to work (v3.7) on my MacBook Pro (OS 10.8.5); heck, I even upgraded to Android OS 4.1 and, since it wouldn't run on my Xperia U, managed to back-grade to Android OS 2.3.7. That's how much I rock.

But now I cannot connect to the phone via USB or bluetooth. And the phone has slowed down to a crawl.

Please help.

Hi Mitopay,

A new version of Bridge should be out any day now, which should solve you problems. If the new version doesn't solve your problems, please get back to me so that I can help you further.

Best Regards,

David

Hi,

Same problem with Xperia U, since the last update.

It seems an issue with the Sony upgrade made to the Software SonyBridge.

The question is where are the quality tests?

Hi XperiadesconcertedUs,

I'm sorry to hear that Bridge isn't working for you. Could you please elaborate on your problem further and provide more information?

A new version is due shortly, which should hopefully solve any problems you might have, but if you can give me more information I will gladly investigate it further.

Best Regards,

David

I'm running the following:

Sony U

Mac OS X 10.6.8

Sony Bridge for Mac 3.8

The phone is not being detected by the computer.  I use to never have a problem with other versions.  I've restarted the computer and reinstalled Sony Bridge for Mac with no positive results.

This is a bit disheartening and nagates the need for having a smartphone since there is a compromise on 100% functionality.  I've always appriciated Sony products please help.

Hi there David,

I have a Sony Xperia SP and have the same issues as others in the post.

I have found the workaround is to Power cycle the phone ( either power or the OFF button under cover.)

Once rebooted and the USB cable reconnected the computer then recognizes phone and autostarts Bridge, and all is well...

It will work for a while but then drops off and cannot get re-discovered no matter what I do until I go through the phone power off sequence as above.

My Detail:

MACOSX10.6.8

Sony Bridge for Mac 3.8(3803)

Sony Experia SP ( C5306)

Hi, was there ever an answer to this? I see your response is several months old, then nothing. I've been having the same issue for a long time - OSX 10.9.4, Sony Bridge 3.8.4, Xperia U with Android 2.3.7 (I'm trying to upgrade to 2.4, that's why I need to acess Sony Bridge). Clearly the new Bridge version(s) haven't solved anything.

Hi redbrook245!

Sorry for late answer.

I have David's old job.

I have no answer to your question right now but I will contact the development crew.

Can you please send me some error logs.

Here’s how to get error logs from Sony Bridge for Mac:
1. In BfM, hold the "alt" key down while selecting the "Phone" menu. Select "Clear logs" to remove all old logs and get a clean start
2. Reproduce the problem you're having, whether it's connecting the phone, importing photos, doing backup...
3. In BfM, hold the "alt" key down while selecting the ”Xperia” menu. Select "Export logs"
4. On the computers desktop there should now be a file named "SonyBridgeForMacLogs_[date].zip
5. PM that file to me or post the contents here

As soon as I have an answer I will write back to you.

Best regards

Fredrik
