Solution Found - Media Go Synching Same Content Repeatedly

Problem - Media Go syncs same content to phone regardless of whether the content is currently on the device. This can lead to synching your library every time you open Media Go.

Known Phones Affected: Xperia Arc, Ray, Mini

Solution: Download Media Go version 1.8, currently available here:

Tested: May 9 2012

Hi all,

I have the Xperia Mini but I have found threads with different phones having the same problem. I've just uninstalled 2.1 and installed 1.8 and my phone syncs PERFECTLY with Media Go. Media Go finds what media is on my phone then ignores synching that and only syncs what is missing. (finally!)

I have spotted some duplicates but I think I know why that is - for example, in iTunes, if I imported a CD while not connected to the Internet, it says track 1 track 2 etc. If using Media Go you clicked find media info. on Gracenote, it finds the track names then creates a copy of each song with the new info, whil ALSO synching track 1 track 2 because that is what is in iTunes. Get me so far? I think it's best that you don't use Gracenote to update your files, if you want to sych exactly iTunes to Xperia phone...

Well this solved the sync problem for me. I have the Xperia Mini...the others are also 2011 phones...this is important for the Media Go devs to know. Please report if this works for you or not!

Good luck!

P.S. I have been testing version 2.0 and 3 times it syched with my phone correctly. Perhaps it's just the latest version 2.1 that creates problems? I will continue testing...version 2.0 can be found here: http://media-go.software.informer.com/2.0/

I contact them and asked for help, they suggested uninstalling and reinstalling 2.1. I tried this but had no luck, the sync problem continued. So I've gone back to version 2.0 and it syncs correctly.

I think I may have found another clue to duplicate songs on the SD - disconnecting the phone during sych is one such way of duplicating songs accidently, I think when Windows asks do you want to scan the SD for errors, some of the content is lost. If you need to cancel while a sync is in progress, I'd disconnect in Media Go, then on the phone and you should be OK.

I've just found another clue...very important

Playlists on the device! If Media Go finds multiple playlists on the device e.g. from a mixture of 2.3 /4.0 or other music apps, then it can get confused. Also...if you are dual-booting different windows e.g. windows 7 and 8. Media Go duplicates items.

Fix:

Go to devices in Media Go, delete all of them. When you plug in your phone, set up the device as before. Delete ALL existing playlists on the device. Now sync. This works for me even in version 2.1. I can't believe I found the problem...this helps a lot.

Good luck all Slightly_smiling_Face
