Software upgrade from ICS to Jelly bean by PC companion lead to damage phone

Hi All,

I was using Sony xperia ion. There is a inbuilt ICS android. I tried to upgrade phone by sony PC companioun. I have followed all necessary things to do that and start upgrading phone.

First step was downloding latest software from internet, (of-course my computer is connected to internet and all firewall is disable). After downloading latest software in PC companioun, it starts upgrading  phone. After few mins I got a message in PC companioun that, "There is some problem in upgrading phone. press retry button". I did accordingly and pressed retry button and after that my phone never started again Slightly_frowning_Face

Then I tried to connect my phone to PC, but it never get connected to it. In phone's screen I can see only "sony" in big later.

I gave my phone to sony service center, after around 10-15 days they replied that your phone hardware is damaged , by upgrading a software how it can damage hardware !!! Slightly_frowning_Face . They have charged me around 12000 Rs. I refuse to repair my phone there.

I am also a software Developer and we are making softwares too, but I have nerver expected such a poor quality from sony.

Please help, I want my phone back.

-Thanks

After the failed upgrade did you try and perform a repair using eithert PCC or SUS as it could have simply been a software error

Yes, I tried to repair the phone, but it didn't work. After that I tried to reboot my phone by holding volume up or down and power button as per PCC message.

As per my knowledge the system OS is currupted and it starts only on uboot.

Can we repare OS without PCC ?? (as phone is not able to detect on PC)

Hi SandeepPatel

you can try this , i guess it might show some recovery by doing this

clarify first

>are you using High speed internet ?? because it DOES matters when updating the software, if you dont have enuf speed to download dont ever try it..

>if you have desktop computer then try connecting the phone to the back of the computer USB not to the front, and try to do hard reset.

try to restore later if possible( you will lose all data on it!)

>if you have other computer try connecting to different computer and check whether it shows up or not, if not try different cable and computer

let us know

THANKS FOR THE CORRECTION "THOMMO"

manjuboyz - How does holding power and volume switch to safemode - That is NOT!! how to boot into safemode

Regarding PC Companion - You could try using SUS found here

You only other option would be to try and manually flash using a .ftf firmware file - If you are interested then post back and I'll leave details for you

Go here to download the firmware file - Instructions and links to the tools/ programs needed are underneath the download link when you click the firmware file you want

Alternatively go here on XDA for a list of their firmware files - Same instructions as referenced to above apply
