So long SONY

So long SONY

I’ve been thinking about it for a long time now and on Friday, I made my decision; the time has finally come to move on.

But let’s take thinks from the beginning;

I’ve always been a SONY LOVER, NOT just a fan!

My first home stereo was a SONY, my first Car Audio, my first sub-woofer, complete car audio system, then again the next 3 Car Audio Systems, my answering machine at home (until the time they decided to discontinue the production of home wireless systems (telephones)), my 2 TV sets Bravia Cinematic HX703 Series, my oldest one Bravia KLV-S40A10 “S Series”, my Wireless Home Theatre DAV-FX100W … Let’s not forget here the PS1, PS2 and PS3 as well as 3 VAIO laptops I had (Still using my last one).

That’s all for my home … NOW, let’s move on to mobiles;

Some models I remember owning are:

T-29, T-39 (Flagship at the time), T-65, T-68m, T-68i (Flagship at the time), T610, P-800 (Flagship at the time), Z1, Z5, K700i, K750i, W580i, W850i, W880i, C905 (Flagship at the time), XPERIA X10, XPERIA Arc-S (Flagship at the time).

Before purchasing the Arc-S, I was wondering if, spending so much money on SONY equipment worth the value. Back then, almost a year ago, I had the dilemma to choose between the Samsung SII and the Arc-S. Arc-S was about €80 cheaper than the SII but that wouldn’t make the difference in my decision! The brand and the features would; mainly the BRAND! And SONY did. I said to myself “Let’s give them ONE MORE LAST CHANCE”. I would wait and see what their next phone would be like!

The time has passed and I saw that I couldn’t do enough things with the so called “flagship” of SONY. I wanted more! And I wanted more from a giant that could and wouldn’t offer me what I needed. I had problems which, even with my guarantee, couldn’t resolve (p.s. I still have a pending issue with proximity sensor and upgrading to the newest version of ICS). And of course, I have problems with the phone features!!!

Why on earth would SONY use a Bluetooth version 2.0 on their flagship? They are still using it!!!

NO NFC!

NO SECONDARY CAMERA!!! For God’s sake … they have and own Cybershot with Carl Zeiss lenses! What on earth were they waiting for to install a secondary camera???

The OS is only upgradable to 4.0.4 (if that happens, mine wasn’t and don’t know the reason for that; as I mentioned earlier I still have a case open for that)!

And listen to this … they use a 1.4 SINGLE CORE PROCESSOR with … listen … 512 MB of RAM!!! Unbelievable! Their so called flagship!

But somewhere I have to put a full stop and move on. But where?

On Friday, I was out looking for a new phone. Between the ones I looked, it was a SONY XPERIA S (the new so called flagship!). Here are the specs:

Dual-core 1.7 GHz - WHY NOT QUAD???

Android OS, v4.0.4 - WHY NOT 4.1???

Bluetooth v3.1 with A2DP - WHY NOT 4???

RAM 1 GB - WHY NOT 2???

How are they going to compete with the SIII or the Nexus 4 or even the One X?

To be honest, I DON’T KNOW and I DON’T CARE. Cause my next phone is NOT GONNA BE A SONY. THAT’S ENOUGH!
