Smart Wireless Headset pro, Prepurchase Questions.

There are no specs given for the earbuds that come in the box. The BT unit is rated for "MP3 streaming time (up to) 12h" based on the inear buds provided in the box (6mm drivers).

I would be using my KOSS Porta Pro on ear headset, its rated @                      60 ohms/101 dB SPL/1mW (50mm drivers).

Q - What has been the 'Real World' battery performance from the unit, as an MP3 player (BT connected), using on ear headphones similar           to my specs?

A large music library, 25Gb +/-, on a 32Gb MicroSD such as mine has 377 folders, 13,987 tracks.

Q - Based on what I have read on this forum SD cards over 2 Gb's have a problem being read by the BT modules, is this just the odd problem or             overall experience of all the purchasers?

Q - Anyone have a large music library on a 32Gb SD card in their BT unit?, and, How well is the music library designed for navigation thru                    GB's of data?

Q- Does the FM radio still revert to the 1st station if it looses the signal?, or has that been fixed wit the last update?

The reason for these questions is, the Sony Store in my area does not give any refunds on this product, exchanges only, due to the ear buds in the package.

This includes reasons of poor performance (battery) and glitchy software running the unit, if the unit catches fire when charging, they will only replace the unit, no refunds.

I don't want to get stuck, AGAIN, with another crappy Sony product, and a $150.00 kick in the pants.

So, what has your experience been with this product?

Here are some reviews I found helpful, has lots of detail and further links into the unit and earbuds.

Q1: Battery performance: Radio usage: 4.24-8 hours on full charge, without being used/paired with the smartphone. A2DP/streaming from phone: 6-8 hours. SD Card: Due to it's inability to play more than 1-2 tracks before force closing, I cannot report.

Q2 or Q3: Played on internal SD card: No luck here, it plays 1 or 2 songs and resets. I am using their supplied SD card (2gig), and it doesn't even work.

Q4: Radio station. For the most part it retains the station! I had read the if you hold down the rev/for at the same time once you are on your preferred station, that saves it.

I previously have had success with Sony w/the DS970, 980, & MW600 - I am very disappointed in the battery life (compared to these older models and their advertised battery life), and also disappointed in the SD card playback. Also, found out the hard way that using the Multi Point function totally messes up streaming! My first unit had to be replaced, due to the same exact battery life issue - manufacturing defect - and not only did I have to spend massive time getting the return approved, but I also had to pay $10 to return device for them to exchange it. Based on this, I would not buy this. They are coming out with a newer model soon, if I could have a redo, I would wait. I am considereing getting this replaced again.

What I do like: The sound quality, the artist/song displays on screen when streaming, and with the right programs/apps from the market you can get text, email, and other notifications to show (even announce) over bluetooth device. On the radio the station and artist also appear. One more plus is that you can charge and play at the same time.

Apparently, all the meta data, Artist/Album/Contributing Artist/Song/Song Title (etc), all have to be included in the songs you place on an SD card over 2GB.

IF you don't do this,,,,

Anything over 2GB that doesn't have all the meta data breaks the program, 2GB and less is the default 'SORT FILES' that Sony has scripted (?).

Be prepared to sort through, organize and complete the data for the music you wish to load on the mw1 over 2GB.

There was a LOOOONG post on this matter at the amazon site for this product.

Some people have had no problems, others are not so lucky.

In my experience, updates can cause issues, clean installs often rectify the issues present.

The firmware update may be good, its the cleaning out of the old file, remnants left behind, that causes problems/conflicts.

Its poorly written INSTALLERS, that cause problems.

Hopefully if I purchase a unit, it will have the latest firmware installed and wont need any updates.

As for the new product smart-bluetooth-handset-sbh52/  I would wait and see if its just as buggy as the mw1.

What has been your battery life using larger headphones?  On ears or even Over ears, something along the line of a 50mm driver @ 60ohms.
