Smart Dialing

Please help me sony , i have something wrong with smart dialing , when i need to search for a contact i have two ways as shown in your user guide either by entering the first numbers or by entering texet words , the problem is that i only can use numbers but i can not write words , please help me

Settings > apps > all > phone > Clear everything 

it will be wise to backup your contacts

Hi,

Just to make sure that you have understand correctly. You don't actually write letters when smart dialing. You spell words using the 'T9' function. The number represents the letters that are shown on the same button. For example if you have a contact named 'SONY' you dial '7669' and if you have a contact named 'XPERIA' you dial '973742'.
