Hi!
Earlier today I somehow managed to get a small crack (about 3 mm x 2 mm) right above the "Sony" icon at the top of the front screen. In the aftermath, the phone is hardly responding, and the top half of the touch screen doesn't work, while the bottom half is responding poorly, and the performance of the phone is badly hurt.
As this is my first Sony mobile, I just have to ask... Is it normal for a tiny crack to completely shut down the functionality of the enitre phone? I've previosuly had a Galaxy S3 (which had a larger crack by the end of it) as well as several iPhones with a lot more damaged screens where the touch functionality remained untouched, despite high amounts of screen damage.
Also, is this something that'd be covered by a normal warranty? I don't really mind having a nearly unnoticable crack in my phone, that's fine, but the phone is rendered useless because of it.
I'm sorry to hear what happened to your phone. How much a crack affects the performance is hard to say actually. If it's just the glass it might not be noticeable at all, but if it's cracked all the way trough it might affect the touch performance as well. If you send the phone in to a service center they can take a look at it and repair it for you. If they conclude this crack was due to a manufacturing error it will be covered by the warranty.
