Since system update my emails wont connect to server- Please help

My emails have worked fince since owning this phone, but as of 5/6 days ago the emails will no longer work. s

I have looked at the settings and still says cant connect to server, so I deleted the account from the phone to then reinstall. But now it wont connect at all and I get the error message could not open conection to server. I have also tried entering manually but still have no luck. I had a system update around the same sort of time so I ma unsure if this has effected things.

I have had to open the Hotmail app from the play stor in the mean time, but would like to get the phone working as it should as this had an email time setting so I wasnt disterbed by junk mail in the evening/night.

Please can someone advise.

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

First try clearing data for the email app under Settings -> Apps -> All -> Email -> Clear data and then restart the phone. When you then open the email app it will ask for your email address and password. Enter those but select manual setup, Exchange ActiveSync and then use m.hotmail.com as server address, your email address as user name and see if that works.

I have followed the steps you have given to Jenny but I get a meesage saying "Could not Finish - connection error". My phone is connected to the wireless network as things such as facebook update??!!

After selecting manual setup and Exchange ActiveSync, first make sure that you add "@hotmail.com" after the username so that you have "\[your email address]" under Domain/Username and that Server says "m.hotmail.com" (it will default to just hotmail.com). Also enable "Use secure connection (SSL)" if it's not enabled.

If that doesn't help, make sure that your phone is set to the correct time and date under Settings -> Date & time and also try another connection (WiFi/mobile data) if that's possible.
