My Xperia Z1 was not recognising my o2 SIM. After some correspondence with Sony the handset was replaced. The new handset will not recognise the SIM either, nor will it recognise a friend's SIM. Both SIMs work perfectly in iPhones.
Any suggestions?
Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
That sounds very strange.
When you drop down the notification bar what does it say?
Do you see the SIM icon with an red cross in the top of the phone?
Is the phone locked to O2 or do you have the possibilities to test other cards as well?
The message says"No SIM card - no service". The SIM icon at the top has a red cross on it. The phone is not locked to O2 (ie SIM free)
Hello kenad69!
It sounds like your IMEI/BB has been broken during the updating process.
You may check out the following command on calling app:
*#*#7378423#*#*
Service info -> Configuration -> if on the top under IMEI there is only "0000000" your IMEI has been lost so far.
But it can be "recovered" with the mighty tool SUS (Sony Update Service) which you can download here:
http://www.sonymobile.com/de/tools/update-service/
Make a backup of your device and then make a factory reset with SUS.
Regards,
meet
Thanks for that but it doesn't seem to be the problem. I have a string of digits under IMEI....358091055046947!
