sim locked after ICS upgrade

Hi everyone,

Iam from India,bought my ray online from ebay 3 months back with warranty & updated it to ICS through PCC 7 days back. After the update the phone is showing invalid sim(bsnl).It is working with other bsnl network sim cards.When i approached sony people ,told me that they cannot give warranty as the phone is valid to use in saudi arabia & not in india.Now  if i root it & downgrade to GB will i able to use the same sim.I don't want to use new sim with same number as the old one having lot of money.

Perhaps, as some networks allow you to do this, you could transfer both the number and the credit from from the old to the new SIM card.

sorry chris, here in india bsnl network doesnt do it

You should try using your sim in other mobile to see if the sim is working well or not

yes the sim is working well in other mobile,& kindly note that in my xperia ray other sim cards of same network is working,so is it really a sim card lock or something happened when updating to ICS

also if i downgrade to GB will my sim will be unlocked or should i unlock boot loader

Since other sims are working in your mobile, yor mobile seems ok.

Since your sim works in other mobile seems sim is ok

Where the problem lies then

and most likely the solution is to buy a new sim

Since your sim is working in other phones, use it in them until your credit finishes and then go for a new sim ( with same number)

or try contacting BSNL regarding this if they could issue you a new sim and transfer all your your credits from old sim to a new one

Wow thanks Nabeel.I will go for new sim when my credit finishes.

kindly note everyone your sim can get locked while updating to ICS,so always update without sim,its a bug from sony which they should resolve

Though i had told i will go for new sim i just downgraded to GB using flashtool & my sim is unlocked & working perfectly. so the ICS ROM is the culprit.So kindly do not advise to go for new sim.
