SIM-1 slot shows missing SIM card while call/data transfer works well

Hi Sony Support,

SIM-1 slot shows missing SIM card while call/data transfer works well.

Since September 2016 I am a user of Xperia Z5 Dual E6633 Android 6.0.1 (32.2.A..0.305) Android security patch 1/08/2016  using 2 SIM card : 1 –T-Mobile-CZ;  2-PLAY-PL.

Since first days I did experienced following problem: ALWAYS when crossing border (rooming activities CZ>PL, CZ>PL borders, SIM card slot 1 (any card there) after registering to foreign network (rooming) SIM slot 1 icon becomes gray out. I have tested SIMs by crossing SIMs card (SIM card : 1 –T- PLAY-PL; 2- Mobile-CZ) and behavior is the same. I have replaced both SIMs to brand new from both network providers – problem still remains. Both SIMs are always ON, preferred SIM for mobile data is SIM-1, national roaming is activate on both card as national roaming data as well.

In order to fix grayed out symbol status on top menu bar of SIM-1 I need to Restart the phone then problem is fixed till next border crossing. It never happens when I am in the same country and manually switching network provider to go in manual Roaming. I was trying to generate the problem by manual network selection to select any roaming network but then all works well.

I can make phone calls  and receive calls on SIM-1 (while network is available signal strength) but I cannot send SMS from SIM-1 guess due to SIM-1 grey out “status”.

See attached video showing SIM-1 gray out status and on the same time good quality network signal represented in diagnostic data of both SIM.

Please let me know if issue has already been registered by SONY and what is a fix.

Regards,

Pawel

does all the network carriers support the same type band? i.e. LTE ,wcdma

try to perform some experiment, try to set the network type to either LTE only, or GSM only, or WCDMA pref,

also try to boot into safe mode..

are you sure the icon is grayed out with the slash on it? or maybe it just shows a very low signal,,,

please have a look on attached video, network type, signal strength as well as SIM-1 slot empty all is shown ....

It looks like SW bug as the calls and data transfer works fine…

both SIMs support all data transfer up to LTE mode.

SIM-1 is set LTE(prefered)/WCDMA/GSM

SIM-2 is set GSM only    as only single SIM card can be on LTE mode

Actually when SIM-1 show empty slot no manipulation of any parameters are allowed as basically the SIM status is "not present", see icon on top bar.

Data usage menu only shows SIM-2 and WiFi instance – no SIM-1.

The only way to bring smartphone to normal operation is to restart the OS.

I have the same issue cannot send SMS from SIM 1 when greyed out but calls work OK.  Versus reboot you can just deactivate Sim 1 and then reactivate from the dual sime settings.  Its not related to roaming in my experience but it does stay on if you stay in one location I think it could be realted to swithing towers. Still its very anoying.  Come on Sony generate a fix.
