Shock Proof Xperia go ?

i bought Sony smart phone model 'xperia go' last month for Rs 18,500/- from chandigarh. the company claims the product to be very shock resistant as viewed in its promotional video. the phone fell accidently by me today morning from a mere height of less than 3 feet. with this the so called minearal glass above the touch screen got many cracks. the authorised service centre told me that it costs Rs 6770 + taxes to replace the glass. Does Sony has any answer its claim of Shock resistance mobiles ?

you may have seen the video where some guy stick go to football, throws in the swimming pool, put ice cream, fire fighter flash water on Go and so, if yes then you have been cheated by the sony people. Officially Sony Does not support this ad and will say that they got nothing  to do with it. but when you go to their showroom this video is shown to you so as to prove the durability of Xperia Go.

This is the way of cheating consumer unofficially. This is the way they fool people into buying Xperia Go

Then you should surely visit your sony showroom anywhere in india and they will show you the video promoting Xperia Go.

This is the video which is shown by Sony Showroom to the wannabe purchaser of Xperia Go:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=a6xSazrIpc4  the customer get fooled by watching this video in sony show room thinking that it is official video and when later on they face problem the sony support staff or even you comment like this:

"I couldn't find anywhere that it says it's shock resistant"

I was expecting this type of reply from you and sony technical staff

lol, I'm not in India at all. I don't understand what they are sayig on that video. now in the video you can see that if you drop it, not from quite high but small drops the phone should keep working as it's shock resistant NOT shock proof, I have not seen a smartphone that it's shock proof and/or its advertised as shock proof.

For something that’s such a vital part of life, most smartphones can’t handle life’s little bumps. Now there’s an Android smartphone you never have to worry about. Xperia go is a dust-proof, water-resistant phone. Sure, you can take it on a hike through the rainforest. But it’s made for less dramatic challenges. Like a drop into the flour while you’re baking, a “surprise” dive into the fishbowl and whatever else daily life has in store.

it may be "lol" for you for not being in india. But the consumer who purchase these phones seeing the video and later on as commented by the user Go fell from 3 feet and screen is damaged, there is nothing for laugh about, since he has to pay 6000/- or around 120 US Dollars

I went to buy sony Xperia S and the authorised sony service centre showed this video, i was impressed and i bought this phone. And you won't believe after i saw lot of consumer complaining about the durability of phone, I am much more careful in using the phone in day to day use. Prior to using Xperia Go, I had beeing using N8 for more than a year, and now i feel what is difference between gorilla glass and mineral glass.

I would only request sony and its dealers to just not to mislead consumer by showing this video as they feel that the phone is so much durable and later on feel that it was a trick to dupe them

I think let consmer court  decide whether it is really fair on part of a company like SONY selling its products on the basis of misleading videos and if proved the extent of penality to be imposed on SONY. See you there soon SONY !

1) The title of the video is 'Made to Resist', which is quite misleading itself.

2) There is a point in the video when the phone fells from a height of around 3 feet it self, similar to our case. ( Ref : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sx5n6gPeYs , 00:12 )

3) The other videos which is used by the SONY dealers to promote this product is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3v5lN4U0bM
